WEEKLY REVIEW

Friday last week, we learned about natural selection. Natural selection is when a species become two different species. For natural selection to happen, there are steps that needs to be "followed" for the process. The first step is in a particular population, there needs to be variation. Variation meaning that there has to be different or various species. Second, because there are different variations, some of them will survive and some of them won't. The ones that survive usually are the ones that are able to camouflage and not get killed by the predators. Then, those traits will be given to their offspring or it will be passed down, by genetics. Last thing is, advantageous trait will allow organisms to have offspring and reproduce more and more. An example of natural selection is from the brown bear species. The brown bear species gave birth to a white bear. The bears live in the Antartica with snow. It means that the white bear has more advantage and it can survive because they can camouflage.

This week we learned about diversity. Why do we have diversity. Living things have diversity like different shape, colour and others are needed for adaptation. For  example, Indonesian people has darker skin and hair to help protect from the sun. Adaptation is when an organism have traits or characteristics to help them survive in their ecosystem. There are 3 types of adaptation, the first one is structural. It is what they look like, for example shark they have teeth and a lot of them to prey animals. The second type of adaptation is chemical, chemical that helps organism survive. For example, a skunk they spray something that smells very bad to keep danger away from them. The last type of adaptation is behavioural. There are 3 types of behavioural which are, camouflage, warning colouration (for example like how plants that are more colourful have more poison), and mimicry (mimicking a colour or pattern).
