TERM 2 REFLECTION
This term in biology I learned about a lot of things such as genetic inheritance, DNA synthesis, meiosis, pedigree and human body system. For genetic inheritance we learned about traits, gamete, somatic cell and also the punnett square. Trait is a characteristic human has (inherited), we can usually predict the offspring from the parents (the chances of having each trait. We learned about dominant and recessive and also the diseases inherited from which alleles. We also learned about x-linked and y-linked trait. After that, we learned about pedigree. Pedigree is some kind of a family tree and with the key sign of the "people" we can know if the disease is dominant or recessive genetic disorder. We also learned about meiosis and how it is different with mitosis. Meiosis is like mitosis two times, we learned about haploid and diploid chromosome. We learned the process of meiosis and the disorder that could happen in which process. We learned about DNA synthesis. Now we know how DNA is replicated (DNA polymerase) and also protein synthesis. We know the process of DNA coding and also transcription and translation which means that we learned about mRNA, tRNA, rRNA. The last thing we learned is about human body system, there are eleven of them but we focused on four systems which are immune system, endocrine system, circulatory system and nervous system. We learned about the organs and the process of how it works. The last thing I learned about is my group's disease that we chose which is HIV. I learned a lot about HIV because of the biolit project. Now I know the actual process of how HIV goes inside our body or how it attacks our immune system. We all also learned about the other diseases from the other groups which are malaria, dengue fever, typhoid, hepatitis B and tuberculosis.

The most interesting I learned in term 2 is about pedigree. I think that it is interesting because we can see the diseases based on the prediction from the punnett square. The pedigree tells about how or the chances of a disorder or disease is passed down based on the parents. This topic is the topic I found most interesting because it amuses me to see how cool it is that you can see a family tree and the disease passed down or carrier. At the same time, I also think that DNA topic is interesting like for example the translation, transcription. The topic was very fun to learn because we did an activity kind of like a game and we need to translate codons to words and sentences. The activity made the topic interesting to learn about. I also really like learning about diseases and learning about immune system.

The hard thing about the topics I learned in term 2 is that because there are a lot of topics I need to be able to think properly and put everything inside my brain. Not only that, but there are parts that seems difficult for me to understand in each topics. In meiosis, I am always confused about how the process is different from mitosis but at the end I got through it and finally understand. For human body system, immune system, I was a bit confused about the third line of defence specifically I don't really understand about how antigens work.

I think I could've done my summative better. I did not put simple explanations and cases on my cheat sheet and I think I should've learned more about it instead of just writing it. For future projects, I will try to manage my time very wisely and do my best with my maximum effort.
